As part of our ongoing commitment to safety & quality, We conducted a quarantine & investigation on our Super Mack Series IP65 Batten. This was due to an issue with the tamper proof screws not being present in at least one batch of OPT-MKB-4FT-10W-S. This product also had instructions that were not clear enough on the requirements for securing the fitting and cleaning.
I refer to Section 2, Cleaning, and Section 6.14 and Figure 9 on this PDF : Download Updated Super Mack Instructions v1.1.
Electricians & Customers should be aware, every batten of this style needs to be secured shut at the clip with at least 2x Screws (1 either side) so general public can’t open or access the gear tray without a tool, we’ve updated the manual and will be provided with these fittings moving forward, and for any fittings you have in stock.
Under Australian law all luminaires must be unable to be opened without use of a tool or aid and this new instruction booklet’s purpose is to ensure this is followed with our products.
This would apply to other similar products including brands other than Optitech also, please be aware and speak with your electrical contractors asap so they are aware of their obligations.
Please check your current stock levels either on hand or with contractors and check the product itself to ensure there are tamper proofing (not to be confused with vandal proof) screws present (these will be Philips head 3mmx12mm screws) and that the attached instructions are provided, and old instructions are removed & discarded.
